Anime: Shin Kidou Senki Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Tokubetsu Hen v4s43

An excellent conclusion to all that is, was and ever shall be: Gundam Wing.

The animation for this is excellent. The new models of the Gundams and sparkly new targets for them to creatively desiccate are supremely well rendered. The variations of method in causing great big stomping robots to fall over are as realistic and exiting as they are varied and the humans prove to be more than just afterthoughts, getting more detail than some of the townsfolk from the original series combined.

Sound is good but does not reach the same standard as the animation. Effects are as stock-y as the series (although better rendered) while the dramatic silences tend to last as long as they need to. The music is splendid and obviously had a lot of effort put into balancing to bring the greatest impact. The narrator for the English track sounds nearly identical to that of Homeworld and knows his dramticals while the Japanese version is a bit more subdued. From what I can , the rest of the English cast is the same, which I personally did not like as they have all the warmth and enthusiasm of a potato. The Japanese cast on the other hand were paired perfectly with their roles and did excellent jobs in conveying the right emotions.

The story is well written, although they could easily have dragged it out into a double feature, as there are numerous details that could have been expanded on. In any case, the action is there for a good reason and each main character has something profound to contribute to the story.

Unfortunately, the characters themselves (humans) tend to be a bit imbalanced. We get nearly half an hours exposition on Hiro's back-story while the rest have to settle for less than what they got in a single episode. The Gundams are even worse. The designs are completely new for three of the five, and this is never explained.

Regardless of its few failings, this is a good film by all s and it is quite reasonable to watch it apart from the series, although this would ruin its full impact.

All in; worth watching. Quite apart from the fact it is Gundam Wing.

At the climax of the Eve Wars, on December 24 of the year AC 195, the armies of the World Nation and White Fang met in a ferocious battle. World Nation leader Treize Khushrenada was slain, White Fang leader Zechs Merquise disappeared, and Earth was saved from destruction by the intervention of the five Gundam pilots. Having witnessed the consequences of war and hatred, the people of Earth and the space colonies put aside their differences and together founded a new world government. Under this newly-formed Earth Sphere Unified Nation, a year has ed in peace. The government and the populace have disarmed themselves, and almost every remaining mobile suit has been destroyed. Deciding to follow suit, Gundam pilots Heero Yuy, Duo Maxwell, Trowa Barton, and Quatre Raberba Winner place their mighty mobile suits inside an asteroid and send them on a one-way voyage into the sun. But even as they bid their Gundams farewell, a new conflict is drawing near.
