Inoue Akira was born September 8, 1953 in Tokyo, Japan. He is keyboarder, lyricist, composer, arranger and music producer. His father was the famous cellist Inoue Yoritoyo (井上頼豊). He is married to singer-songwriter Yamagata Sumiko.
He studied at the Department of Musicology at Toho Gakuen School under Miyoshi Akira. During his student days he already started composing CMs as well as arrangement and playing keyboard. He was a member of popular band Parachute. In 1981 he won the 23rd Japanese Japan Record Award for Best Arrangement on the Terao Akira hit song "Ruby no Yubiwa" (ルビーの指環) from the best-selling album Reflections (リフレクションズ).
